Wired For Birth

A trauma-informed, neuro-affirming Birth Preparation Class for a Sovereign Birth

Led by a licensed clinical social worker and perinatal expert

Are you highly sensitive? Neuro-Spicy? Have you experienced trauma, anxiety or depression?

Most birth classes weren't build for a brain like yours.

They teach you how a textbook birth goes, how a hospital or birth centre works. They don't often consider what a highly sensitive nervous system needs to feel safe. Too often, they are centering statistics, and best practices that do not represent your unique profile.

If you have, or suspect you may have ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Panic, or you are a highly sensitive person your birth and postpartum preparation requires something special. You  deserve:

  • neural safety that protects your mind

  • sensory support tailored to your processing needs

  • psychological protection to prevent trauma

You also require a neutral faciliator who celebrates choices that make you feel safe, even if they do not necessarily align with hospital policies, WHO feeding recommendations, or instagram mom influencers fads!

Meet Christiane

I am a mother of 3 with ADHD...Yeah it's intense!

You might wish to know some of my credentials. I bring a deeply integrated clinical background to this space:

  • Registered Social Worker with a Master's degree

  • Certified hypnotherapist

  • Somatic Experiencing Practitioner focused on trauma prevention and resolution

  • Certified postpartum doula

I have about 10 years of experience supporting birthing people. I pair this clinical background with my own lived experiences as a neurodivergent mother and a survivor of birth trauma to support you in the most grounded, humble and human way possible.

With my background in gender studies, I am fierce and passionate about a person's right to choose how to bring their baby into the world, how to feed them and raise them.

I believe parents are the best equipped to nurture their children optimally. My mission is to provide parents with the best beginning with their babies, so they can embark on a joyful and peaceful relationship together.

Newborn Held Gently

What We Will Learn:

Physiological Autonomy:

Understanding the mechanics of labour, medical choices available to you, pharmacological and natural medications and potential medical interventions.

Pain Management Strategies:

Dedicated, comfortable space to learn and practice comfort measures and coping exercises with absolute dignity and privacy and somatic safety.

Neuro-Affirming Birth Plan:

We will design a trauma-informed birth plan through a method informed by neurobiology which I have developed over a decade of working with perinatal families. We will talk about protecting boundaries, and estabishing explicit supports that allow you to feel safe in any setting

Clinical Self-Hypnosis:

As a certified hypnotherapist, I will guide you through hypnosis protocols that you can use during your birth to help connect you to your strength, peace and focus. You will have access to a recorded version of this hypnosis after the class which you can use to prepare for birth at home.

Postpartum Mental Health Blueprint:

We are going to work as couples, to  help you build your personalized, clinical protection plan to mitigate the risk of postpartum depression and anxiety in both parents. This will also help protect your relationship from common conflicts couples experience during the newborn transition.

Newborn Held Gently

What to Expect

To prevent overstimulation, the class is kept small, with only 4-5 couples per class.

Here is how we protect your comfort during our time together:

  • Sensory-Friendly Environment: The class is run in a living room style space, with dim lighting. I will not burn candles and invite you to come scent-free.

  • Permission to Move: Fidgeting (Crochet anyone?), stretching, standing, leaving and taking breaks, are all encouraged. There are also separate, quiet spaces you can step into for alone time. No masking needed here :).

  • Interactive Learning: This is an engaging, collaborative experience. There is absolutely no lecturing or dry PowerPoint presentations.

  • Long Lunch: A longer lunch break of 1.5 hrs provides time to debrief with your partner at a restaurant, take a walk, or just have alone time.

  • Space Good-to-Know: A bathroom is next door and separate from the space. Please note that the venue does require navigating stairs.

  • Absolute Autonomy: I will never force, shame or push you to participate in any exercise. You have full permission to look away, opt out of listening or skip  parts of the class. Your boundaries are completely respected here.
